Crisp, juicy Bosc pears take center stage in this indulgent, sweet-savory creation. Their firm texture holds up beautifully under heat, providing a delicate contrast to the creamy, melted Brie nestled inside a flaky croissant. A layer of rich fig spread enhances the pear’s natural sweetness, while a drizzle of honey and a sprinkle of fresh thyme add depth and warmth. Waffling the croissant creates a golden, crisp exterior that locks in all the gooey goodness within. This effortless yet elegant recipe is perfect for a brunch treat, a cozy snack, or an impressive appetizer.

Ingredients:

  •  1 Bosc pear, thinly sliced
  • 1 wedge of Brie, sliced
  •  Fig spread (to taste)
  •  1 croissant, halved
  •  Fresh thyme leaves
  •  Honey (for drizzling)

Instructions:

1. Preheat Waffle Iron: Heat a waffle iron to medium heat. Lay down a layer of parchment paper for easy cleanup.

2. Prepare the Croissant: Slice the croissant in half horizontally. Spread a thin layer of fig spread on the bottom half.

3. Assemble the Filling: Layer slices of Brie on top of the fig spread, followed by thin slices of Bosc pear. Drizzle with honey, then sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves. (you could also add prosciutto or ham to this for another protein)

4. Close the Croissant: Place the top half of the croissant over the filling and gently press down.

5. Waffle the Croissant: Place the filled croissant in the preheated waffle iron and close the lid. Cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until the croissant is golden brown and the Brie is melted.

6. Serve Warm: Enjoy immediately as a delicious sweet-savory treat!
