Ingredients:

– 4 slices of thick-cut bread (sourdough or multigrain works well)

– 1 large Honeycrisp apple, thinly sliced

– 8 slices of bacon, cooked until crispy

– 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated

– 2 tablespoons caster sugar

– 2 tablespoons half-and-half

– Butter, for grilling

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Grill Pan: Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat.

  1. Prepare Bread: Brush the outer sides of each sandwich with half-and-half, ensuring both sides are evenly coated.

  1. Assemble the Sandwiches: Lay out the bread slices and divide the grated sharp cheddar cheese evenly between two slices. Top the cheese with slices of Honeycrisp apple, then layer on the crispy bacon. Place the remaining bread slices on top to form sandwiches. Alternatively, you can build the sandwiches right in the hot pan.

  1. Grill the Sandwiches: Generously butter the preheated grill pan or skillet. Carefully place the sandwiches onto the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.

  1. Brulé the Top: Sprinkle caster sugar evenly over the top of each sandwich. Using a kitchen torch, carefully brulé the sugar until it caramelizes and forms a crispy crust. Be cautious not to burn the sugar.

  1. Serve warm and enjoy the delightful combination of sweet Honeycrisp apples, savory bacon, sharp cheddar cheese, and the caramelized crunch of the brulé. Delicious!
