“Oh for sure because that’s real life! Hi, I’m Ashley Rowe. I’m a second generation orchardist. I live up here in Pateros, Washington. So this is my dad’s orchard, so I was born into it. As a kid we did things like thin the row and always heard from my dad like you gotta hoe to the end of the row! That’s a good question! The fruit growing community like, I feel like everybody’s super nice. Like you’re gonna find people that want to help you do better so they give you ideas of what they’re doing and like they’re community oriented like let’s share ideas. Let’s try to make it better for everybody, this is what worked for me, this is what didn’t work for me, bouncing ideas off of everybody. Like I feel like it’s a really happy community. So the next generation of farmers – we’ve got two kids and the goal is to establish like a well-run farm that produces beautiful, gorgeous, delicious fruit and just get them to love it and wanna come back and wanna be part of growing food for humans. Like, there’s something really special about being able to produce something that feeds people.”
