Who wants an impressive appetizer with minimal effort? Everyone! Joyfully Grown™ Gala Apples star in this two-bite tidbit. They have a sweet flavor with floral notes and hints of vanilla which complement the tart fresh cranberries, playing perfectly with the citrus whipped ricotta that we will sweeten lightly with pure maple syrup. If you think that’s a mouthful, wait till you get your hands on one, or three! Since there isn’t a whole lot of cooking involved, you’ll have this starter out as fast as you can slice, chop, broil, and whip. These toasts are ideal for a holiday gathering or any event where hors d’oeuvres are desired!

Ingredients:
- 1-2 Joyfully Grown™ Gala Apples thin sliced
- 1 fresh baguette cut in ½ inch slices
- 3 tbsp. olive oil
- ½ c. fresh cranberries chopped
- container of whole fat ricotta
- 3 large strips of orange peel
- ¼ c. pure maple syrup
- Fresh thyme springs to taste
Directions:
- Slice baguette and place each round on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or silicone baking mat.
- Using a basting brush, evenly coat the tops of each round with olive oil. Broil until lightly browned on the tops. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
- Add the ricotta, orange peel and maple syrup to a food processor and whip until thick and creamy.
- Meanwhile, chop the cranberries, thin slice the Gala apples and ready the thyme sprigs

- When the baguettes are no longer hot, dollop the whipped ricotta onto each round. Add a sprinkling of cranberries, an apple wedge, and a few thyme sprigs.
Notes: You may toss your thin sliced apples in lemon juice if they are going to sit out for more than an hour.Recipe by Valerie Musser of @valeriesofcoursecatering & @whosagoodlizard
