3rd Generation Grower, Courtney Valentine, shows us just how low helicopters fly over her cherry orchards to dry the fruit after it rains!🍒 🚁

Video Transcript:

“Hey everyone, my name is Courtney Valentine and I’m a third generation orchardist. I believe we’re maybe fourth or fifth generation farmers, but third generation orchardists. And we just had our second rainstorm of the day and so our chopper is flying again to dry off our cherries hoping to avoid splits. So here I’m going to get some footage of that for you guys, that way you can see how close this chopper really is getting down on the trees.

Okay as you can see by that last video, the base of the helicopter is only about 10 feet above the trees allowing for maximum airflow in the branches moving the leaves around and letting all that rain water get knocked out of the tree. We don’t want it sitting in the stem bowls because that allows for skin degradation and then splits to happen. So yeah, that’s what we do!”
