These trees are a fun easy-to-assemble easter project for kids
- What you will need:
- Assorted branches from a tree (we used apple tree branches)
- A 4 inch diameter clay pot
- A piece of floral foam to fit
- Pot
- Garden clippers
- Moss or shredded craft paper (optional)
- A pastry brush
- A piece of dowling
- DIRECTIONS:
1.Cut a piece of floral foam to fit your clay pot. In it arrange cut branches to make a “tree.” Stick branch ends into foam to secure. If you like, add some warm water and soak branches for a few days. Buds will pop out and you may even see a bloom or two.
2.Fill pot with shredded paper or moss.
3.Prepare eggs to hang: cut ten inch lengths of cotton string. Fold in half and knot. Gently push the knot through a large hole in each colored egg. Top with a small dot of hot glue.
4.Hang eggs as you wish to adorn the tree. We had originally planned to “decorate” our eggs, but we liked the mottled, speckled, and unusual color patterns so well, we decided to let the dyes stand on their own. We did, however, blow out some simple brown eggs, leave them uncolored, and trim them with bits of lace, ribbon, twine, etc. Kids would enjoy painting these with acrylics and finishing off with some glitter glue.
