WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Egg, room temperature
- Hat pin, small diameter nail, long bamboo skewer
- Small bowl for contents of egg
DIRECTIONS:
1. Wash the egg with warm soapy water and dry. Holding the egg in the palm of hand, gently poke a hole in the smaller end of the egg with a hat pin using a twisting motion, like an auger. This might take a minute or so but gets easier with practice.
2. Next poke a hole in the larger end of the egg using the same method. This time you will want to gently enlarge the pin hole using a nail at first, then a skewer. Once the hole is big enough to insert the skewer, gently “stir” egg contents within, being sure to break up the yolk.
3. Put your mouth over a small hole in egg and blow gently until all contents have flowed into the bowl. This step is not as hard as it sounds and gets easier with practice.
4. Wash the egg with soapy water and allow it to dry thoroughly. Eggs will keep indefinitely this way. I have saved some for 30 years when my children were small. They look as good as new!
