For us, farming is not just a profession; it is a way of life that has been passed down through generations. We are multigenerational growers and farmers, and our joy comes from our families, the land, and the bountiful harvests that grace our fields. It is with great pleasure and excitement that we announce the arrival of the 2023 cherry season, now under our new brand: Joyfully Grown™.

The cherries that we grow here are special – from the way we terrace steep hillsides to maximize land usage, to the way we stagger our orchards at different elevations along the mighty Columbia River and its watersheds, ensuring a long and rich harvest season that is flexible enough to withstand Nature’s whims and ensuring plenty of ripe, sweet red and yellow cherries will be available for you for the longest possible time.

Joyfully Grown™ is more than just a name; it encapsulates the essence of our journey as growers and the love we pour into every aspect of our work. Each piece of fruit that graces your palate is a taste of the joy we find in cultivating the land and nurturing our orchards. We take immense pride in our craft and want to share the same joy with each and every one of you.

Even in the face of challenges, we persist, knowing that the sweetest fruits are born out of resilience.

“Happy is a temporary feeling,” says Daniel Gebbers, domestic sales manager. “And, a lot of times, you’re happy if something is easy. Something that’s joyful, on the other hand, might be really difficult, but you find joy in doing it. You find joy in that process and in the outcome. And, in our case, we find joy in the success we can give to our employees and our partners.”

 And those challenges can definitely be difficult to overcome. When Nature sends us rain events, we employ skilled helicopter pilots to fly low over the orchards and quickly blow the rain off the cherries, preserving their tender skin. When frost threatens the blossoms, we use wind and water to protect them, or rely on the varied elevations and locations of our many orchards which ensures that even if one or two areas are affected, the rest continue to thrive and will bring a bountiful cherry crop to stores and tables nationwide.

The Joyfully Grown™ packaging was carefully designed to stand out and attract the attention of potential customers, which can be challenging for a premium, seasonal fruit. Consumers need to know quickly that it is fresh cherry season, so we designed cheerful, colorful leaves and fruits to stand out on crisp, white pouches, impossible to miss even in a crowded retail environment. “Joyfully Grown will be easy to recognize and understand because it’s simple. The logo is bright and fresh, and when you read those words, it’s hard not to be joyful or think of joyful things,” according to Tom. “It’s very simple, and I think it’s going to be something that shoppers remember as they have a good eating experience.”

With the 2023 cherry season now under the Joyfully Grown™ brand, we embark on a new chapter of our farming legacy. Our commitment to sustainable practices, environmental stewardship and dedication to our workers remains our top priority, as we add our personal and heartfelt message of joy to our consumer-facing brand.
